
Chef Michael Makuch joined faculty of the Culinary Nutrition department in the Johnson & Wales University College of Culinary Arts in 2007. As a Community Service Educator at Johnson & Wales University's Community Service Learning Center, Chef Makuch visited Rhode Island schools, businesses, and non-profit organizations to enlighten others about the "You Can" Healthy Cooking Program and the Captain Nutrition Enrichment Program, which he created to focus on the importance of diet, exercise and healthy lifestyles. He is currently an ambassador for JWU's Gold Standard for Food Safety initiative which educates food service professionals, consumers and children on minimizing their risk of food borne illness. Chef Makuch is a graduate of Johnson & Wales Providence Campus where he earned an associate degree in culinary arts '01, a bachelor of science in culinary nutrition '03, and a master of arts in teaching, Food Service Education '05.
