17th Annual Rhode Island Spring Flower & Garden Show Announces “Timeless Gardens” Theme

Providence, RI, January 29, 2010Spring will arrive early in Providence when the 17th Annual Rhode Island Spring Flower & Garden Show blooms from February 18-21, 2010 at the Rhode Island Convention Center. This year’s theme, “Timeless Gardens,” sets the stage for spectators to journey through past decades from the Roaring Twenties to the flower power days of the 60s.  While witnessing the thirty themed gardens, attendees can purchase garden tools, art works, flowers, seeds, jewelry and more from over 150 marketplace vendors and artisans.

 

The RI Spring Flower & Garden Show, the longest standing and largest flower show in New England, attracts more than 30,000 attendees annually and will showcase 5,000 different blooms, over 30 garden displays and over 150 larger-than-life garden marketplace vendors. The show will offer lectures by leading horticulturists including: Roger Swain from PBS’ “The Victory Garden,” television’s longest-running gardening show; Julie Moir Messervy is an inspiring lecturer, author and award-winning landscape artist who can help turn your outside into your dream outside; Louis Raymond, Show Designer for the NE Flower Show for 6 years, has had his landscapes spotlighted in The Wall Street Journal to The Narragansett Times; along with Susie Coelho, host of HGTV shows “Surprise Gardener” and “Outer Spaces”.

The RI Convention Center is centrally located downtown, convenient to many of Providence’s outstanding restaurants featuring special menus at discounted rates including Geppetto’s Pizzeria (www.geppettospizzeria.com), Walter’s Ristorante d’Italia (www.chefwalter.com) and Local 121 (www.local121.com). Parking at the Convention Center is $10; parking at Providence Place Mall is $1 for the first 3 hours ($4 for 4 hours); both facilities are connected to the Convention Center. Adult tickets are $15 in advance or $17 at the door, children six and under are free.
